GENERAL PRESENTATION

of the Faculty of Juridical, Political and Administrative Sciences, Bucharest

1. “Spiru Haret” University is a higher education institution, a legal person of private law and public utility, part of the national education system, accredited under Act no. 443 / 2002 (Official Journal of Romania, Part I, no. 491 of 9 July 2002), operating in compliance with the provisions of the National Education Act (no. 1 / 2011).

The Faculty of Juridical, Political and Administrative Sciences (The former Faculty of Law) of “Spiru Haret” University, Bucharest was set up in 1991 for Law Major - subsequently accredited under the same Act as the University.

Implementing the 3-Cycle model (Undergraduate, Master and Doctoral studies) adopted by the European Universities, signatory of the Bologna Process, we provide the following undergraduate and Master programmes in Romanian language:

-          Law – 4.year undergraduate studies (240 ECTS), full-time and part-time education – Accredited;

-          Public Administration – 3.year undergraduate studies (180 ECTS), full-time education – Accredited;

-      International Relations and European Studies – 3.year undergraduate studies (180 ECTS), full-time education – Accredited; part-time education – Authorized; distance-learning – Authorized;

-          Local Police – 3.year undergraduate studies (180 ECTS), full-time education – Authorized;

-          Criminal sciences – 1.year Master’s (60 ECTS), full-time education – Accredited.

Legal framework and status of the accredited / authorised undergraduate and Master programmes (for a five years period):

-          GR no. 707 / 2012 (Official Journal of Romania, Part I, no. 525 of 30 July 2012) for the under-graduate programmes, and Decision of the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sports no. 4945 / 2012 (Official Journal of Romania, Part I, no. 564 of 9 August 2012) for the master programme.

1. GENERAL TEACHING AND RESEARCH OBJECTIVES

The managerial team and the academia of the Faculty of Juridical, Political and Administrative Sciences from Bucharest provide the meeting of the following teaching and research objectives:

a) Teaching:

-          providing best training conditions for all full-time and part-time students through an efficient and transparent management;

-          adopting the quality principle in teaching, implementing and maintaining the performance standards, criteria and indicators for quality assurance in education;

-          aligning to other national and foreign top universities in point of curricula and syllabi;

-          student-centred teaching / learning;

-          training the students to observe the human fundamental rights and freedoms, dignity, mutual understanding, tolerance and collaboration;

-          increased B.Sc. graduate and Master graduate employment rates in all legal and public administration areas.

b) Research:

-          stimulating the students’ and professors’ creative thinking and skills, resulting in highly scientific legal articles, studies and papers;

-          improving the work within research institutional structures (student clubs, Legal Research Centre, Centres of Excellence and the like);

-          the academia, students and Master candidates engaging in research work and signing partnerships with national and foreign universities, research institutes and economic - social and legal units;

-          recognition of the academic community research performances at national and international levels within congresses, symposia and in accredited publications / publications with national and international indexation;

-          Identifying and providing funding resources for the expansion and permanent improvement of the material resources for advanced research.

1. TEACHING AND RESEARCH TEAM

Judges from the Supreme Court and tribunals, Prosecutors form The Public Ministry, Lawyers of Bucharest Bar, Legal advisors from the main ministries of The Romanian Government, experts in international law, criminal law, civil law, forensic, international trade and arbitration, labour law etc. Details in the CV Teaching Staff Section.

The undergraduate and Master programmes are strictly organized and are functioning according to the provisions of the National Education Act no.1/2011.
